As I was testing courses and developing my Skillshare evaluation, I was constantly dissatisfied by the lack of closed captioning available on the videos. This basically makes the platform impossible to use for those who are hearing impaired and not able to read lips. Minus points for exclusivity!
Not every instructor ROCKS
The difference in quality of trainers can be a continual challenge on your method to understanding gain. Given that being able to teach successfully is a hard-won ability in it of itself, it would be naive to believe that every instructor on the platform stands out at the fundamentals of teaching.
A good quality indicator is the variety of students a course has hosted, as higher numbers tend to associate with higher quality trainers. This isn’t always the case– some courses are just specific niche enough to not appeal to the “masses” anyway.
Conclusion: is Skillshare Worth it?
The opportunity to find out for learning’s sake is factor enough for me to peacefully declare that Skillshare deserves it. The hands-on projects and capability to connect with others, including specialists in your preferred fields of knowledge, makes the $14 a month charge a deal. The onus is on YOU to identify which courses would bring you the most worth, whether you intend to strengthen your resume with shimmering competitive skills or assert yourself as a professional hobbyist.
Skillshare members can gain much more than simply new skills from the courses. You’ll fall for finding out again, satisfy inspired and knowledgeable peers that will challenge and inspire you, and may find yourself addicted (nay, obsessed!) with gaining understanding.
