As an online developer and specialist, I’m continuously discovering brand-new skills. How To Teach A Skillshare Class… to stay up to date with the trade and make customers delighted. To do so, I’ve relied greatly on online learning over the past 5 years. Normally, when I want to discover something new, I just go to YouTube and type in a question and hope for the best.
Most of the time, I get videos taught by “specialists” with endless advertisement breaks and pitches to purchase their product. I mean, what else can you expect from “free courses.” Recently, fed up with the poor quality and doubtful knowledge shared on free platforms, I relied on an online knowing platform I keep hearing so much about: Skillshare.
Impressed by Skillshare’s top quality complimentary classes, I signed up for an annual membership (and scored a 40% discount rate, more on that in the Skillshare prices area) and dove deeper into the Skillshare courses used to premium members.
I will share my experience as a Skillshare student here in this thorough review. While some evaluations for online courses tend to be regurgitations of sales pages, everything you are about to check out comes straight from my own experience as a devoted learner.
If you are searching for a TLDR version of this review, here it is:
The sheer amount of brand-new material that is contributed to the platform weekly suffices to keep even the busiest of brains engaged. Whether you want to get a new skill to make your resume shine, restyle your home, or master a hobby “just for the hell of it,” you can quickly discover dozens of opportunities to level up your collection. Even more, Skillshare’s generous payment plans for instructors indicates that there’s no scarcity of excellent trainers creating new and premium material frequently.
Now, if only there was more time in the day to learn everything!
Communities of like-minded learners
Feeling part of a peer-group can be hard when you have niche interests like Parlor game Style or Floral Embroideries. Between Skillshare’s Groups, Workshops, and differed trainers, you’re opening a treasure trove of chance for connection and neighborhood building. This is a big perk for us “geeks” to feel part of something larger than our own private efforts AND it enables us to discover not just from the experts, but from each other.
Easy to use all around
It took me all of 5 minutes to develop my account, login, search for content I’m interested in, and find a course that fit the bill. I was diving deep into my first course in less than 20 minutes, eager to discover a lot more content to feast on.
Congratulations to Skillshare for making a quickly navigable desktop AND mobile platform, and for consisting of a start/stop performance that syncs across gadgets.
In between the capability to “preferred” terrific instructors and conserve Skillshare classes to customized lists, not to mention the Discovery section of the Skillshare app, I am never ever for want of new product to find out. And the truth that I get to discover on MY schedule makes Skillshare the equivalent of the 100 emoji.

The Disadvantages (Cons) of Skillshare
These are the primary disadvantages of Skillshare:
Not fully accessible
Not every instructor ROCKS
The advertisements are frustrating, so you’ll wish to pay
Not completely available
As I was testing courses and developing my Skillshare review, I was continuously dissatisfied by the absence of closed captioning readily available on the videos. This basically makes the platform difficult to utilize for those who are hearing impaired and not able to check out lips. Minus points for exclusivity!
Not every instructor ROCKS
The difference in quality of instructors can be a consistent difficulty on your way to knowledge gain. Considering that having the ability to teach efficiently is a hard-won skill in it of itself, it would be naive to believe that every trainer on the platform stands out at the basics of mentor.
A good quality indicator is the variety of trainees a course has hosted, as higher numbers tend to associate with higher quality trainers. This isn’t always the case– some courses are just specific niche enough to not appeal to the “masses” anyway.
Conclusion: is Skillshare Worth it?
The opportunity to find out for learning’s sake is factor enough for me to soundly announce that Skillshare is worth it. The hands-on jobs and ability to get in touch with others, including experts in your preferred fields of knowledge, makes the $14 a month charge a deal. The onus is on YOU to determine which courses would bring you the most value, whether you intend to boost your resume with shimmering competitive abilities or assert yourself as an expert hobbyist.
Skillshare members can acquire far more than simply brand-new abilities from the courses. You’ll fall for learning again, meet proficient and inspired peers that will challenge and inspire you, and may find yourself addicted (nay, obsessed!) with gaining knowledge.
