As an online creator and specialist, I’m constantly finding out brand-new skills. Skillshare Time Management… to stay up to date with the trade and make clients delighted. To do so, I’ve relied heavily on online learning over the past five years. Generally, when I wish to find out something new, I simply go to YouTube and type in a concern and hope for the best.
The majority of the time, I get videos taught by “specialists” with endless ad breaks and pitches to buy their merchandise. I suggest, what else can you get out of “free courses.” Just recently, fed up with the poor quality and questionable understanding shared on free platforms, I relied on an online knowing platform I keep hearing so much about: Skillshare.
Impressed by Skillshare’s high-quality free classes, I signed up for a yearly subscription (and scored a 40% discount, more on that in the Skillshare pricing area) and dove much deeper into the Skillshare courses used to premium members.
I will share my experience as a Skillshare student here in this in-depth evaluation. While some evaluations for online courses tend to be regurgitations of sales pages, whatever you will check out comes straight from my own experience as a devoted learner.
If you are trying to find a TLDR variation of this evaluation, here it is:
The sheer amount of brand-new content that is contributed to the platform weekly suffices to keep even the busiest of brains engaged. Whether you wish to pick up a brand-new skill to make your resume shine, restyle your home, or master a pastime “just for the hell of it,” you can easily find lots of opportunities to level up your collection. Even more, Skillshare’s generous payment plans for teachers means that there’s no scarcity of outstanding trainers producing premium and brand-new material frequently.
Now, if only there was more time in the day to discover all of it!
Neighborhoods of similar students
Feeling part of a peer-group can be hard when you have specific niche interests like Board Game Design or Floral Embroideries. In between Skillshare’s Groups, Workshops, and differed instructors, you’re opening a treasure trove of chance for connection and community building. This is a huge perk for us “geeks” to feel part of something larger than our own individual efforts AND it permits us to find out not only from the specialists, but from each other.
Easy to use all around
It took me all of 5 minutes to produce my account, login, search for material I’m interested in, and find a course that fit the bill. I was diving deep into my very first course in less than 20 minutes, eager to discover even more content to devour.
Congratulations to Skillshare for making an easily accessible desktop AND mobile platform, and for including a start/stop functionality that syncs across devices.
In between the capability to “favorite” terrific teachers and save Skillshare classes to tailored lists, not to mention the Discovery area of the Skillshare app, I am never for desire of brand-new material to discover. And the truth that I get to discover on MY schedule makes Skillshare the equivalent of the 100 emoji.

The Drawbacks (Cons) of Skillshare
These are the main disadvantages of Skillshare:
Not totally available
Not every instructor ROCKS
The advertisements are frustrating, so you’ll want to pay
Not completely accessible
As I was evaluating courses and constructing my Skillshare evaluation, I was continually dissatisfied by the lack of closed captioning available on the videos. This basically makes the platform difficult to use for those who are hearing not able and impaired to read lips. Minus points for exclusivity!
Not every instructor ROCKS
The difference in quality of trainers can be a consistent difficulty on your method to knowledge gain. Since having the ability to teach successfully is a hard-won skill in it of itself, it would be naive to believe that every trainer on the platform excels at the fundamentals of mentor.
A good quality indicator is the number of trainees a course has actually hosted, as greater numbers tend to associate with higher quality trainers. This isn’t always the case– some courses are just niche enough to not appeal to the “masses” anyhow.
Conclusion: is Skillshare Worth it?
The possibility to find out for learning’s sake is reason enough for me to comfortably proclaim that Skillshare is worth it. The hands-on tasks and ability to connect with others, including experts in your desired fields of understanding, makes the $14 a month charge a bargain. The onus is on YOU to identify which courses would bring you the most worth, whether you aim to boost your resume with sparkling competitive skills or assert yourself as a professional hobbyist.
Skillshare members can gain far more than simply new abilities from the courses. You’ll fall in love with learning again, meet motivated and knowledgeable peers that will challenge and motivate you, and might find yourself addicted (nay, obsessed!) with gaining knowledge.
